The Challenge

What brought this esthetics & skincare business to me

Spathetics launched from nothing in 2024 with a brand, a shop and online booking. Two years on, the site and the booking system disagreed on nine services, every Book button opened the generic form at step one, Google had no structured data for the business, and the homepage weighed 8.7 MB because a 7.5 MB stock video was downloaded twice. An accessibility scan failed 746 checks. The design was right. Everything under it needed work, and clients book on the site every day, so it could not go offline.

The Solution

What we built together

We moved the site onto our hand-coded framework and kept the brand Ashley chose: the video hero, the script accents, the rose and mint palette. Every service page now reads its price and appointment length live from the booking calendar, and "Book this service" opens the calendar on the date-and-time step. The launch ran scripts against the live database rather than replacing it, so bookings never stopped. The video was re-encoded to a quarter of its size and loads after the page. Ashley's own photos of herself and the studio replaced stock the day of launch.

Hand-coded WordPress site on the DietzenDev framework
Service pages that read price and duration from the booking system
Deep links into the booking calendar from every service
Header Book button and a mobile booking bar
Zero-downtime cutover against the live database
Video hero re-encoded from 7.5 MB to 2.3 MB with a poster and pause control
One structured-data graph: business, services with prices, FAQ, breadcrumbs
Per-page titles and descriptions, utility pages kept out of the index
WooCommerce shop styled directly, store scripts only on store pages
Accessibility pass: AA contrast, landmarks, one H1 per page
Her own studio photos, color-corrected and stripped of location data
Managed hosting with server hardening and credential rotation
The Results

What changed after launch

Homepage weight cut from 8.7 MB to 1.3 MB.

Mobile Lighthouse: services 74 to 98, shop 69 to 92, booking 56 to 75.

Desktop homepage scores 100 with its largest element painted in 0.6 seconds.

746 accessibility failures brought to zero across 16 pages.

Prices and appointment lengths can no longer drift from the booking calendar.

Launched in two days without the booking calendar going offline.
